I Stopped Doing This, And Got Better Leads

How simplifying my approach led to more trust and better clients.

I made a mistake most people make when generating leads.
I tried to be everywhere.
Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram.
Webinars, newsletters, networking events.

I was exhausted.
And the leads?
Mediocre.

Then I asked myself a simple question:
Where did my BEST leads actually come from?

Answer:

  1. Referrals from people who trusted me.

  2. Content that showed how I think.

  3. DMs that turned into real conversations.

Not lead magnets.
Not paid ads.
Not spray-and-pray content.

So I flipped my strategy:

  • Doubled down on building relationships.

  • Started sharing what I was learning (not just what I knew).

  • Focused on conversations (coffee chats), not conversions.

The result?
More qualified leads.
Less stress.
And a business that grows by trust, not tricks.

Moral of the story?
You don’t need more traffic.
You need more trust.
